Will the Indian government continue the TikTok ban through July 14, 2020?
Context. On June 29, India announced that 59 Chinese origin applications will be blocked, citing “activities… prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.” Among the applications included in the ban is the popular video sharing service TikTok, produced by the Chinese company ByteDance. India is ByteDance’s second largest market after China, with over 120 million active users (Business of Apps).
