In the next three years, I think it is most likely that the percentage will increase slightly, however, I think that a significant increase (or decrease) without a substantial change in governmental policy is unlikely. The small increased change could potentially be due to increased distrust in the government due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the increased presence of artificial intelligence and new technologies, or the increased governmental focus (and resulting media focus) on privacy and data collection. Existing statistics indicate that "79% of adults say they are at least somewhat concerned about how companies are using the data it collects about them." Therefore, it is already known that more than 64% of American adults have some concerns about data collection generally.
